Dr. Wolfgang-Christian Fuchs
Dr. Fuchs worked for 20 years at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. His functions there ranged from several years in the Police Directorate, three years as member of the executive staff at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, one year as Head of the Minister’s Office at the Thüringen Ministry of the Interior, and five years as representative of the Federal Ministry of the Interior at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels. In addition, he worked for seven years at the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (antiterrorism and counterintelligence).
Since March 2014 he has been Commissioner of the Union of the Opferverbände kommunistischer Gewaltherrschaft (UOKG), and since August 2014 he has been President of the International Association of Former Political Prisoners and Victims of Communism (InterAsso).
Christian Fuchs is an ancien of the NATO Defense College in Rome (spring 2010 course) and a board member of the Association of the Friends of the Federal Academy for Security Policy.
Dr. Fuchs studied law at the universities of Bonn, Erlangen-Nuremburg, Würzburg, Speyer and London. He received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service and the British Council, and completed his Ph.D. at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, in 1985.
